Collide

It seems like just yesterday we were stepping foot into the great unknown of 2016. A year that was full of so many gifts, challenges, periods of great happiness and moments of tears. All in all, it was 365 more days of celebrating and appreciating our life together while realizing that the end of an era is near.

Change is invigorating, terrifying, exciting, and full of questions. We feel blessed to have been together for 10 years in preparation for the monumental changes headed our way. Bringing little people into our lives has forever been a dream of ours and it has been a gift to walk this road together in anticipation of their arrival. We really do believe that 2017 will forever change the way our lives look in the greatest way possible. If all works out according to the “usual” timeline, we should be a family of four by the time Summer 2018 rolls around!

It’s a difficult thing to fully wrap our heads around because we have been waiting for these moments for what seems like an eternity. It still doesn’t quite seem possible. And yet we are slowly but surely preparing their rooms (and our hearts and minds) for their arrival home. But above all else, we continue to mull over what it will be like that first day we set eyes on them. After roughly 18 months of being at the crèche, they are no strangers to “blans” coming to visit their friends and have seen countless families walk out the gates and start their new lives together elsewhere. I wonder how their fragile little hearts fair in those moments. I like to think that they are just waiting for their new family to walk through the gate and scoop them up. Will they know us? I pray every day for it; that their hearts and minds are as ready for us as they can possibly be. Ready for our two worlds to collide.

collide
verb  col·lide \kə-ˈlīd\
1.  : to hit something or each other with strong force: to crash together or to crash into something
2.  : to come together with solid or direct impact

We anticipate many new collisions in 2017 and beyond. But the impact of this very first coming together will be one for the books and we can’t wait to share in it with you! Thank you for all of your love, prayers and support thus far. Please keep them steadily coming. Bringing them home isn’t the end…it’s merely the first step in our greatest adventure yet!

This is the first year we have not sent out Christmas cards (I’m sorry!) but please know that we didn’t skip you!! We plan to do an e-card update after we meet our kiddos. If you think there is a possibility that we don’t have your email address or if you would like to be added to that list, you can comment on this post and we’ll be sure to include you.

Also, if you would like to receive regular updates, please sign up in the “Follow By Email” bar on the right side of this page.
