Dreams Really Do Come True
We landed in LAX around 10:00am, got our rental car and were on the road to In N Out in no time! After our amazing Double-Doubles and Animal Style Fries, we checked into our hotel and were ready to head into the park. As we waited in the lobby for the shuttle to arrive, I noticed I had a missed call from our adoption agency. Given the past six months and some of the hurdles we have faced, we honestly were hesitant to hear what might come from the other end of that call. But seconds later, they were calling Drew and we answered. Much to our disbelief, our Referral Letter was DONE and we were all clear to travel to Haiti!!
HOLY CRAAAAPPPPP!! You mean to tell me that we can go meet
our kids? The kids we have watched grow up in pictures for 18+ months? The
sweet loves that we thought we would never even meet back in November? The ones who
have stolen our hearts over and over? OMG. Are you SURE??? ‘Cause I don’t believe
it, yet. It can't be real. The excitement, terror, anxiety and relief are still overwhelming,
people. And to top it ALL off: We found this out just minutes before walking
into The Happiest Place on Earth, inside the lobby of a hotel that I had
dreamed of staying in my entire childhood, sitting next to my Prince Charming,
celebrating 10 years of marriage this year. YEP. Fairy Tales do exist! Dreams do come true! (We're still in shock...)
So when are we going to Haiti, you ask?? Wellllll, I literally JUST submitted my passport for renewal days before leaving for Cali because we “knew” it would be at least a week until our letter would be ready (based on past experience, of course). So, instead of waiting around for our letter to arrive, then booking travel, taking proof of travel to the Passport Office in CO and getting my new passport within 8 days, I decided I would overnight it out, overnight it back and pay the expedite fee so it wouldn’t set us back another week or two. Planning? Common sense? Logic? Hah. What does that even mean??? Slow learners, here, folks...sloooowwww learrrrners.
Even though we’re still waiting for my passport to arrive, WE GET TO BE EXCITED!! And we were able to celebrate for 2 days at Disneyland, just
US, soaking it all in, soaking in each other, excited, anxious, and terrified for this new
season we’re about to enter. It’s like a 2.5 year pregnancy and we’re finally
about to meet our babies and officially be parents. Wow.
THANK YOU ALL for being there in the good times and in the
struggles. We know that there are many more of both to come and we feel so
blessed to have you rooting for us!
Now it's time to go pack J
